Aphra Behn's groundbreaking play, written in the seventeenth century, is here adapted and directed by Joel Sass and performed by the BFA/Guthrie senior company. Part sex farce, part melodrama, THE ROVER follows the exploits of a band of Englishmen and a trio of young women during Carnival time who use their festive disguises to their advantage when it comes to finding romance. With costumes, scenery, and lighting designed by U of M MFA design candidates, this bold production pays tribute to a play written well ahead of its time. Appropriate for ages 14 and up.
