Reframing Mass Violence: Genocide and Memory Studies in Dialogue
University of Minnesota, September 26-27

A follow-up to the 7-day Institute at the University of Bayreuth in the summer of 2016, this workshop will convene former participants and recent UMN PhD candidates who bring interdisciplinary commitments and concerns in the fields of genocide and memory studies. Participants will cover themes such as the mediation of genocide memory in the age of multimedia, predictive models of genocide and mass atrocities, the transmission of Holocaust memories in South America or Transitional (in) Justice in Native Minnesota. Workshop coordination: Alejandro Baer (U.Minnesota) and Bernt Schnettler (U. Bayreuth).
