First Books Reading and 21st Birthday Celebration for Creative Writing

3/22/18, 7:00 PM

About this event

Join the Creative Writing Program for our annual reading by authors of debut publications. This year’s readers are all University of Minnesota MFA alums. Isaac Butler (MFA 2013) in February publishes The World Only Spins Forward: The Ascent of Angels in America (Bloomsbury Publishing). Sally Franson (MFA 2013) debuts her novel A Lady's Guide to Selling Out with Random House in April. Jon Lurie (MFA 2006) published his memoir Canoeing with José with Milkweed Editions last summer. Presented by the Edelstein-Keller Writer Series and the Weisman Art Museum.

After the reading, the Creative Writing Program celebrates its 21st birthday! Stay and mingle with MFA students past, present, and future as we reflect on 21 years of great writing. (And what would a 21st birthday be without a cash bar? Plus a book raffle!)

Free & open to the public! No tickets or reservations necessary.
