Building a Foundation for Food Startups: Optimizing Business Models for Profitability & Growth
4/19/18, 8:45 AM
About this event
One of the top challenges food startups face is a lack of knowledge on industry specific assumptions as they build their business model. Join us for a 1.5 day 'train the trainer' session and help provide them with the answers.
Do you work with multiple food businesses that will need financial investment in the future? Do you have expertise in food, but wish you knew more about the financials and available business models paths for entrepreneurs?
This 1.5 day training is designed to give a stronger technical foundation for those who actively support/consult/work with packaged food startups, restaurant owners who want to sell retail products or farmers looking to do value-added food production. Realistic assumptions and industry-specific expertise will help you better support the food companies you work with, regardless of their size or ambition.
Topics covered during the training include:
• Current market and industry trends and their impact on a business
• A deep dive on the different types of business models (and their implications) to create an economically sustainable food business
• Highlights of Minnesota specific resources and programs available to entrepreneurs
The training session will be led by Tera Johnson, the Director of the Food Finance Institute in Madison, Wisconsin and Founder of teraswhey®. She has led trainings like these across the country, and we are excited to bring her to Minnesota. Learn more about Tera and the Food Finance Institute on their website.
