100 Years of Design Graduate Education 
September 27-29, 2018

Join alumni, faculty, visiting scholars, and friends as we celebrate 100 years of graduate design education at the University of Minnesota. 

The celebration includes a research symposium on the future of design and an opening party featuring an alumni panel on the future of design, keynote presentation by Dr. Keysook Geum on designing for the 2018 Winter Olympics, and the debut of the juried and invitational Goldstein Museum exhibition, "Looking Forward, Looking Back: 100 Years of Design Graduate Education."  Festivities conclude with open-house style activities and tours of McNeal Hall including the Wearable Technology Lab and the Human Dimensioning Lab, program videos, a buffet lunch, 3-Minute Design Stories where attendees share memories, research, career highlights, and ideas on the future of design, and a closing reception.

This celebration encompasses graduate programs in Design and its previous major names including Design, Housing, and Apparel; Home Economics, and the post-baccalaureate certificate in Housing Studies. Areas of emphasis include apparel studies, graphic design, housing studies, interior design, retail merchandising, textiles, and related tracks.
