Description:

"First Books" is an annual reading featuring debut poets, fiction writers and nonfiction writers that includes a panel discussion with the authors concerning the path to publication. This year's reading will feature MFA alums Arlene Kim (above) and Karen Rigby (poetry), BA alum Peter Geye (fiction), and Paul Metsa (nonfiction). Geye is the author of the novel Safe from the Sea with Unbridled Books; Kim published What have you done to our ears to make us hear echoes? with Milkweed; Rigby will publish her debut collection Chinoiserie with Ahsahta Press this year; and Metsa, a Twin Cities musician, is the author of Blue Guitar Highway (University of Minnesota Press). Free and open to the public. Sponsored by the Creative Writing Program, the Edelstein-Keller Visiting Writers Series, and the Weisman Art Museum.
