Please join the Nineteenth Century Subfield for a two-day Charles Dickens Bicentennial Celebration! James Eli Adams, Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University, will be the keynote speaker, presenting the lecture "At Home with Phil and George: Dickens, Domesticity, Desire." Professor Adams is the author of A History of Victorian Literature, as well as Dandies and Desert Saints: Styles of Victorian Masculinity. The second day's event, on Friday at 1 pm, features presentations by professors Michael Hancher and Gordon Hirsch (English), as well as Anna Clark (History); readings of Dickens' works; and some fun Dickens trivia.
