Join the University of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering for a dazzling light show designed by students. The entire Civil Engineering Building Plaza will be covered in 75,000 LED lights and 400 individual controllable lights for an immersive 3D outdoor experience set to music. The entire show will last about 15-20 minutes. Come early to see the MinnesoTap group and other entertainment. Free hot chocolate and cookies!
After the kick-off event on Friday, Dec. 9 the show will run at 5:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. as follows (depending on weather and attendance):
The project is designed to feature the technical and creative skills of University of Minnesota students and their ability to achieve lofty goals. The event also showcases the fun students can have on campus during a Minnesota winter. Leading the light show effort is the Nikola Tesla Patent Producers (NTP^2) student group.
Preceding the CSE Winter Light Show kick-off event, the Science and Engineering Student Board (SESB) is hosting a "Freezin' for a Reason" 5K Run. Proceeds will be donated to charity. Learn more and sign up for the 5K Run at z.umn.edu/5k.
In addition to NTP^2 and SESB, other student groups involved include: Active Energy Club, IEEE-UMN Student Chapter, GO FIRST Robotics Organization, MinnesoTap dance group, RadioK, Theta Tau, and Triangle Professional Engineering Fraternity.
