A world-renowned scholar deeply engaged in issues of foreign policy and international relations, Shibley Telhami will speak at the Humphrey School about dramatic changes in the Middle East and the impacts on regional and international politics. A non-resident senior fellow at the Saban Center at the Brookings Institution, Telhami has served as Advisor to the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, advisor to the Department of State, member of the Iraq Study Group, and member of the U.S. Advisory Group on Public Diplomacy for the Arab and Muslim World. Author of many books on the Middle East, his best-selling work, The Stakes: America and the Middle East, was selected by Foreign Affairs as one of the top five books on the Middle East in 2003.
