Please join the Immigration History Research Center for a lecture by Giovanna Dell'Orto, School of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Minnesota, entitled "From Shoestring Budgets to Assassinations: The Growing Challenges of Reporting on Immigration in the US and Europe."
Giovanna Dell'Orto, a former Associated Press reporter who covered immigration in the American Southwest and Southeast, is an associate professor at the University of Minnesota's School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Her latest book, "Reporting at the Southern Borders: Journalism and Public Debates on Immigration in the U.S. and the E.U." (co-edited with Vicki Birchfield) explores how the news media narratives about immigration are created in the transatlantic space. Dell'Orto has published three other books on journalism, national identity and international relations, including "American Journalism and International Relations: Foreign Correspondence From the Early Republic to the Digital Era" (Cambridge University Press, 2013).
