Context and Intuition: Modern, Public, Local Space
Friday, October 14
6 PM, 100 Rapson Hall, reception follows
Presented in conjunction with Rendezvous with the U, 6-9pm

Hasan Çalışlar and Kerem Erginoğlu founded Istanbul-based Erginoğlu & Çalışlar Architects in 1993. The firm specializes in urban planning, architecture, and interior design with a diverse portfolio of national and international projects including an adaptive re-use design of a former salt repository in Istanbul's industrical Kasimpaşa neighborhood, which received the New & Old Award at the World Architecture Festival in Barcelona in 2010.

Inspired by architecture that is modern, public and local, Erginoğlu & Çalışlar continually seek to question and be informed by the contexts and elemental morphologies of their projects, working at both pragmatic and conceptual scales to link economy, construction and design. “Context and Intuition” will focus on their current work.

This lecture is part of the Global Practices in Architecture Lecture Series, which focuses on current work by notable architects from around the world. The series is funded by the Cass Gilbert Lecture Fund.
